High-speed pursuit stretches from Alamosa to Walsenburg

WALSENBURG, Colo. (KRDO) -- A man is in custody after a high-speed chase that started in Alamosa and ended in Walsenburg Thursday morning.

According to a captain with the Huerfano County Sheriff's Office, the pursuit began on U.S. Highway 160 in Alamosa County. The suspect was driving a stolen white Acura.

Alamosa County Deputies pursued the vehicle until the city limits of Walsenburg around 9:15 a.m. That's when the Huerfano County Sheriff's Office took over the pursuit.

Nearly 30 minutes later on the 100 block of E. 7th Street, the driver exited the stolen car while it was still moving, and the vehicle crashed.

The suspect fled on foot and ran into the Star Drug Store on Main Street in downtown Walsenburg. Deputies ran inside and took the suspect into custody.
