Suspect still on the run after crashing into motorcyclist in Pueblo County
PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- A man driving his motorcycle and hit by a another vehicle near Highway 96 is still recovering in the hospital, but the person accused of hitting him is still on the run.
Terry Jackson was driving on Highway West on Highway 50 when a black 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt turned left from eastbound Highway 50 toward Highway 96 and hit Jackson.
"The car collided cause it cut in front of him and then he hit the windshield on the car," Karen Frederick, Jackson's girlfriend, explained.
Jackson was transported to Parkview Medical Center where he still suffering from several fractures and "major problems with his right knee," according to Frederick.
Jackson has since been transferred to UCHealth Memorial Hospital where he is undergoing several surgeries.
His injuries include broken ribs, a broken arm, and "a lot of fractures in his right foot, they had to cut his boot off. The right leg has the severe cut completely around, I think they were considering can we even save it."
Witnesses describe the vehicle as a small to medium-sized white SUV. The driver who fled the scene is described as a Hispanic man in his late twenties or early thirties. He is approximately 5'8" to 5 '9" with a medium build, black hair, and unshaven.
Frederick hopes the person responsible comes forward.
"You know Terry didn't die... he's alive, driver! He's alive. He's a tough cookie and just come forward and quit running," she said.
