Hot, stormy weather kicks off the weekend
TODAY: Clear skies are in the forecast for the morning hours with highs climbing to the 80s, 90s and 100s this afternoon. Clouds will fill in through 3pm today and a few showers and storms pop up around 4pm and the hours following. Storms will not be severe here locally, but we will certainly see frequent lightning and pockets of light to moderate rain.
TONIGHT: A few lingering showers will stick with us through 9-11pm at the latest. Partly cloudy skies remain through the morning and lows will cool back to the 50s.
EXTENDED: More storms are in the forecast for Saturday and a few may become strong during the afternoon hours. Those develop after 12pm and will track east through about 6 or 7pm in the evening. We will be dry and hot on Sunday with temperatures remaining in the 80s and 90s. A few 100s are likely again over the plains! We will stay dry through much of next week, with a big cool down arriving by Tuesday. Highs will only warm to the 60s and 70s, a welcomed change after our intense, late-spring heat!
