150 acre Bull Gulch Fire now 30% contained

Firefighters made progress on a wildfire burning near Cotopaxi on Friday.

The Bull Gulch Fire has burned 150 acres and is 30% contained.

The fire is burning 4 miles north of Texas Creek near Bull Ridge and Table Mountain.

The fire is burning in brush, pion and juniper trees, according to the Bureau of Land Management.

There are eight smokejumpers on the scene — parachuting firefighters — along with two single-engine air tankers, which are aircraft that drop water or chemicals to extinguish fires. Two 20-person hand crews arrived overnight. Additional resources have been requested.

No structures have been lost.

The fire’s cause is not yet known
