Salida woman connected to Barry Morphew arrested after allegedly taking package from his former residence

SALIDA, Colo. (KRDO)-- The Chaffee County Sheriff's Office arrested Shoshona L. Darke for trespassing after she allegedly removed a package from the prior residence of Barry Morphew.

According to Morphew's arrest affidavit, many residents in Salida reported Darke and Morphew being in a relationship following the disappearance of Morphew's wife, Suzanne. Both deny being their relationship being romantic.

This incident comes after Barry Morphew was released from jail on September 20th. Morphew is facing a first-degree murder charge in connection with his wife's disappearance.

On September 27th, the Sheriff's Office was alerted of trespassing in the Maysville area. After an investigation, officials say residents of the home observed a female enter their property, drive up to their home, and remove a package from their front door. The home is also the former Morphew residence.

Investigators reviewed several different videos from home security cameras and verified the information that the homeowner told officials.

The suspect was then identified as 51-year-old Shoshona Darke from Salida.

On September 28th, investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Darke. Officials say she was arrested without incident the same day.

Darke was taken to the Chaffee County Detention Center. She has since been charged with Second Degree Criminal Trespass, which is a Class 3 Misdemeanor.
