Man arrested for alleged burglary during Penley Fire

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- A man from Denver was arrested for burglarizing an empty home on the market near Roxborough while law enforcement and first responders were attending to the Penley Fire.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says the homeowner received several security camera alerts showing someone inside the home and called 911.

Deputies say the suspect also used his vehicle to block a gate and road, restricting access for law enforcement and neighbors and obstructing an evacuation route during the fire.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were given a detailed description of the suspect. When he later left the home on an e-bike, deputies stopped him.

The suspect was identified as 40-year-old Tony Hoang. He is facing multiple charges, including burglary.
