Deputies arrest suspect who broke into Falcon Walgreens and started fire
EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- A man is in custody after breaking into a Walgreens in Falcon and starting a fire early Friday morning.
The El Paso County Sheriff's Office responded just after midnight to a report of shots fired near the Walgreens at 7392 McLaughlin Road.
When deputies arrived, they found several shotgun shells and the front sliding glass doors shot out. Deputies found the suspect next to a small fire on the floor near the photo department. They extinguished the flames and detained the suspect.
Authorities say the suspect caused more than $7000 worth of damage to the store. The Fountain Fire Department also responded to investigate the arson.
Deputies identified the suspect as 35-year-old Joseph Golden, who was medically cleared and booked into the El Paso County Jail.
Golden is facing several charges including 1st-degree burglary - armed with a weapon, 1st-degree arson, criminal mischief, illegal discharge of a firearm, 3rd-degree burglary. 1st-degree criminal trespass, possession of a weapon by a previous offender, third-degree assault, and driving under the influence.
