Homicide investigation underway after fatal shooting at a Lone Tree apartment complex

LONE TREE, Colo. (KRDO) -- Two persons of interest are detained and one person is dead after a shooting Friday night in Lone Tree.

Douglas County Sheriff's deputies responded to the Westview at Lincoln Station apartment complex, according to our partners at 9News.

In a statement to KRDO, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office said that deputies had found one victim lying on the ground with injuries. Despite life saving efforts, that person was died on scene.

The sheriff's office says that both persons of interest are cooperating and no formal charges have been decided at this time. Investigators say there is no danger to the public and no suspects are at large.

The victim's name is being withheld until the coroner notifies the family.
