GARFIELD COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) - The Garfield County Sheriff's Office (GCSO) responded to a report of a deceased male at the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park over the weekend.

The GCSO says that they located the suspect, identified as 20-year-old Diego Barajas Medina before the park opened for the day. Officials believe he illegally entered the park after hours. Medina was found by officials dead in a restroom at the park. Officials suspect he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

According to the GCSO, Medina was dressed in black tactical clothing with patches and emblems that gave the appearance he was associated with law enforcement. The suspect was found heavily armed with semi-automatic rifles and handguns along with several magazines for both. Officials say he had body armor and what appeared to be a ballistics helmet on. Additionally, multiple improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were found with the suspect and in his vehicle.

The Grand Junction Bomb Squad responded to render the IEDs safe.

The property was swept by the bomb squad and the Garfield County All Hazard Response Team (AHRT) to ensure no other IEDs were planted around the park.

The GCSO says that the investigation so far indicates that no one in the public was at risk and that the suspect's actions were limited to the Glenwood Caverns property.

According to the GCSO, with the the amount of weapons, ammunition, and explosive devices found the suspect could have "implemented an attack of devastating proportions."

This is an ongoing investigation.
