Pueblo County deputies find weapons, cash, pounds of drugs at kidnapping suspect’s home

KRDO

BOONE, Colo. (KRDO) -- A 41-year-old man taken into custody for an alleged kidnapping earlier this week could be facing more charges after Pueblo County deputies raided his home and found pounds of drugs along with cash and firearms.

Daniel Montano was arrested Monday after a brief standoff in Pueblo. Deputies say Montano took a woman against her will after a domestic violence incident in Boone, and the standoff occurred when she was able to get away and he ran into a nearby house.

On Wednesday, the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office released an update saying deputies went to Montano's house in Boone with a search warrant. Inside the home, they found a half-pound of methamphetamine, 20 pounds of dried marijuana, more than $20,000 in cash, two firearms, and "assorted high-value jewelry." Deputies seized all of the items as part of the investigation.

Montano was booked into custody after the standoff on Monday and faces numerous felony charges, including second-degree kidnapping. The sheriff's office said Wednesday that additional charges may be on the way, and the investigation is still going.
