Live Blog: Election Day in Colorado

YVYV WEB 3

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Millions of ballots have been cast, and the count has begun -- Election Day 2020 is here Tuesday, and we'll be liveblogging updates from Colorado races and other major races nationwide.

11 p.m. Well, we're in for a few days of uncertainty surrounding the presidential election, but it's safe to say we have our outcomes for many Colorado elections.

One lingering race is the Congressional District 3 race, but Lauren Boebert's campaign claims that Diane Mitsch Bush has no viable path to victory.

That'll do it for our live blog tonight, but the election results webpage will keep getting updated until the final tallies are done.

Be sure to check out our interactive maps page to follow the presidential race, and you can even zoom in to see real-time results by individual county.

10:40 p.m. Joe Biden speaks to supporters as presidential race is still up in the air.

We're not going to learn the results of the presidential election tonight, but Joe Biden took to the stage in Delaware to speak to a crowd of followers. Watch below:

We also have more of an idea of who won across Colorado House and Senate districts. Click here for that list.

10 p.m. Lauren Boebert is holding on to a lead as the vote count for Congressional District 3 nears completion. Boebert had about an 18,000 vote and 5% advantage over Democrat Diane Mitsch Bush as of 10 p.m.

But while that race is still being counted, the Democratic Party has held onto its majority in the US House of Representatives, according to ABC News. The Democratic Party's hopes to unseat Senators Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham were dashed, however, as the two men are projected to retain their seats.

Oh and that whole Presidential race? Yeah, no definitive word on that -- Joe Biden and President Donald Trump appear to be neck and neck in the popular vote so far, but the electoral votes may take a while to be doled out. At least it's safe to say that Kanye West will not be the next president of the United States (though he did have more than 5,000 people vote for him.)

9:30 p.m. Several ballot propositions have been handily decided, but others are still neck and neck as more votes come in.

We already told you about the late-term abortion ban being shot down. Voters ended up approving several new tax measures, including a new tax on nicotine products and a decrease in the state's income tax. Voters also approved a measure that would only allow voting in the state by US citizens, along with approving the Colorado Legislature's recent law that enjoins Colorado into the National Popular Vote Compact.

Ballot propositions for paid family medical leave and voter approval for new fees in the state also appear to be doing well so far, but the races still had single-digit deficits with about 81% of precincts reporting.

8:30 p.m. Lamborn wins Congressional District 5

The Associated Press is reporting that Rep. Doug Lamborn has been reelected to his CD5 seat. Lamborn shot out to an early lead over Democratic challenger Jillian Freeland, and once El Paso County's numbers were released, it was clear Freeland didn't have a path to overcome the deficit.

Still waiting on clarity in the CD3 race between Lauren Boebert and Diane Mitsch Bush, though...

8:10 p.m. The late-term abortion ban proposition in Colorado appears to have been defeated, with a 20% difference between the Yeas and Nays Tuesday evening.

Senator-Elect John Hickenlooper also released a speech on his Facebook page thanking voters.

7:45 p.m. Cory Gardner concedes to John Hickenlooper

Sen. Cory Gardner acknowledged John Hickenlooper's early lead with a speech beginning around 7:40 p.m. He highlighted his achievements, but it's clear this is a concession speech. He said he congratulated Senator-Elect John Hickenlooper.

El Paso County and Pueblo County have started reporting election results, and that helped Mitsch Bush cut into Boebert's lead.

A couple of ballot measures in Colorado are neck and neck: Amendment C on Charitable Giving and Prop 114 on Restoring Gray Wolves.

Voters appear to be favoring overturning the Gallagher Amendment while simultaneously supporting reducing the state income tax, which will undoubtedly set up a bout of budget juggling in the future.

Incumbents in statewide races also appear to be doing well. With about 60-70% of reporting, there are no incumbents losing.

7:15 p.m. Polls close in Colorado

Polls have closed in Colorado and we're starting to get election results. Lauren Boebert and Doug Lamborn are off to big leads for the Republican side of the Congressional battles, but John Hickenlooper has an early lead over Sen. Cory Gardner.

See the results here.

6 p.m. Watching the ABC News interactive map (which you can conveniently find right here) and they're already starting to dole out projections for some states. Kentucky was called for President Trump, and Biden picked up several northeastern states, including Vermont and Massachusetts. Granted, none of these mean anything right now until all the votes are counted.

We've got about an hour left until the polls close in Colorado. We know that El Paso County won't release its first batch of results until about 8 p.m. Keep up with the results here.

5 p.m. The polls are starting to close on the East Coast, and we're expecting to see early numbers from at least a few states that have already begun counting. One very closely watched state is going to be Florida, and with 22% of votes reported in the early evening, Joe Biden had a slight lead --just shy of 12,000 votes-- over President Donald Trump.

Colorado Sec. of State Jena Griswold said that as of 4 p.m., a little over 3.1 million Coloradans had cast ballots. That means about 100,000 new ballots were cast between noon and 4 p.m.

The newsroom has food, Heather Skold is happy, and Rob Namnoum is bored because there's no sports segment on Election Night (womp womp.)
