Coloradans approve tobacco and nicotine tax, national popular vote, reduced state income tax
COLORADO (KRDO) -- Coloradans have voted yes to a new tobacco and nicotine tax, along with joining the national popular vote compact, and a reduction in the state's income tax.
Proposition EE increases taxes on cigarettes and tobacco products. It will also create a new tax on nicotine products which currently aren't taxed, like vaping products.
Colorado's electoral college votes will now go to the candidate with the most votes nationwide, under Proposition 113.
Proposition 116 passed, meaning a decrease in the state income tax rate. It will drop from 4.63% to 4.55%.
As of 9:45 p.m. Proposition 114, which is for the reintroduction of gray wolves into parts of Colorado, is too close to call.
