1 dead, 1 in custody after standoff with suspect in Colorado Springs carjackings, shooting spree
UPDATE: The standoff near S. Nevada Ave. is over as of about 2:20 p.m., Colorado Springs police confirmed. Police confirmed that a man was found dead inside the home with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Police confirmed Wednesday that the dead man inside the home was Kyree Davon Howard-Walker
Howard-Walker is the man tied to multiple shootings and carjackings Saturday that resulted in the deaths of two victims.
A homeowner told us that only Kyree Davon Howard-Walker and his girlfriend were inside the house. We saw police take a woman into custody who matches the description of the girlfriend.
The homeowner tells us that Howard-Walker had asked to stay in their residence prior to committing the crimes Saturday.
The alert was issued for people in the area of 1000 Florence Ave. Police said "stay out of the immediate area until further notice; lock and stay away from windows and doors."
