Suspect arrested for murder after woman found in Pueblo alley
PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- Pueblo police say they've arrested a suspect for second-degree murder after a woman was found dead in an alley between Pine and Spruce streets.
According to an update from PPD on Tuesday, 22-year-old Rashad Jackson was arrested for murder in connection with the homicide.
The body was found Monday afternoon, police said.
Police say it's a domestic violence-related homicide. Autopsy results are pending, however, preliminary information show that the victim's death and injuries stem from a physical altercation.
The victim still hasn't been officially identified; we're working on getting more information about her identity. Police described her as a woman in her 20s. Pueblo Police believe the victim and Jackson were in a relationship.
The body was found Monday afternoon in an alley between the 1600 block of Spruce Street and Pine Street. However, on Tuesday the alley running through the 1500 block is taped off as well as an abandoned home on the 1500 block of Pine Street. Investigators and CSI are continuing to monitor that home. At this time, it is unclear if the home on Pine street is where the victim was killed, or how it is connected to the unidentified woman's death.
Police would not say whether or not Jackson has been forthcoming with information to investigators. The 22-year old is currently being held at the Pueblo County Jail.
The property manager for the couple tells KRDO the couple lived on the 1500 block of Spruce Street, less than a block away from where the victim's body was recovered. She says the two had not payed rent since August of last year, and were evicted just a few weeks ago.
There are no other suspects or persons of interest in this case, however, police say there are other individuals involved.
This is the third homicide investigation in Pueblo this year.
