5-year-old Pueblo girl hit by truck, fighting for life at Colorado Springs hospital

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- 5-year-old Patsy Salazar is fighting for her life in Colorado Springs after a driver hit her on Thursday night in Pueblo as she was crossing the street on a scooter.

Pueblo Police said the driver stayed on scene and is cooperating with police. There are social media posts alleging the driver was drunk, but police said there was no sign the driver was impaired at the time of the accident.

Salazar suffered a skull fracture and was seriously injured in Thursday's accident. Her family reported that when they first got to her, they didn't believe she was still alive. Flight For Life crews transported her to Children's Hospital Colorado, Colorado Springs to undergo surgery on Thursday. On Saturday, Salazar had recovered enough to leave the ICU, though she remains in the hospital to continue her recovery.

In a social media post, a family member said "the doctor and staff named her 'Miracle' our God is working on her she's a fighter!"

Pastor Rob Hernandez at Highest Praise Fellowship is handling the donations to the family. If you'd like to donate, please contact him by clicking here.
