Colorado Springs-based Global Supertanker ceasing operations
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Global Supertanker, the company that runs a wildfire-fighting 747 jet, is shutting down operations.
An employee with Global Supertanker confirmed to KRDO Friday that the company was "permanently ceasing operations," but didn't give a reason. We're currently working on getting more information.
The 747, equipped with bays that could drop tons of firefighting retardant from above, has flown in many states and even internationally to help firefighters in hard-to-reach areas. It's not yet clear what the fate of the plane will be.
This is a developing story, check back for updates.
