Trial delayed for owner of illicit massage parlor in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Originally set to take place Monday morning, the criminal trial for illicit massage parlor owner Xinan Xia has been continued due to his attorney being sick.

The trial was originally scheduled to take place at 8:30 a.m. in El Paso County, but it's been rescheduled for December 13.

Xia is accused of keeping a house of prostitution and pimping at Rose Spa, which has since been shut down.

According to the Colorado Springs Police Department, detectives began an investigation into the Rose Spa massage parlor in May 2020, after receiving numerous tips about acts of prostitution being offered to customers. Police served a search warrant at the spa in July. Court records reveal vice investigators went into Rose Spa after a woman working inside admitted to an undercover detective that he could receive sexual services for an additional $50.

Xia was arrested in December 2020. Prosecutors did not move forward with a money laundering charge that was originally filed by Colorado Springs Police Department.

At least one woman flew to Colorado Springs to testify in the case as a witness against Xia. It's unclear where the woman traveled from and prosecutors declined to comment when asked by 13 Investigates.

A mandarin interpreter explained to Xia that with a continuance, he was agreeing to waive his right to a speedy trial. Xia agreed to waive his right to a speedy trial.

Xia hid from 13 Investigates cameras when he came out of the courtroom. He declined to comment on the charges against him.
