KRDO

After nearly a decade in local news, Chelsea is now the Assistant News Director at KRDO NewsChannel 13.

Before leading the KRDO team, she founded the station's award-winning investigative team, 13 Investigates

Chelsea specializes in in-depth investigative reporting, particularly focused on local, state, and federal government corruption.

Her reporting for KRDO NewsChannel 13 has led to significant improvements to state and local laws, reforms aimed at protecting foster children in Southern Colorado, enhanced mental health crisis training for law enforcement, and investigations into state and federal corruption.

Before joining KRDO, Chelsea worked as an anchor and investigative reporter at WHNT in Huntsville and KIFI in Idaho Falls, ID. In 2020, she was recognized as Alabama's best broadcast reporter. Her investigative reporting exposed the illegal dumping of toxic 'forever' chemicals by corporate giant 3M into the Tennessee River, posing a threat to the drinking water supply of over 100,000 people in North Alabama. Chelsea's efforts to bring attention to the company's actions and the negligence of state environmental regulators gained recognition from The New York Times, leading to 3M being held accountable for the costly clean-up of toxic chemicals.

She considers it a privilege to be a voice for the people of Southern Colorado.

In her free time, Chelsea enjoys spending time with her husband and two rescue dogs. She loves hiking in the Colorado Mountains, gardening, and exploring new restaurants in our area.

Chelsea continues to serve as KRDO's Chief Investigative Reporter. For story tips or to chat, email her at chelsea.brentzel@krdo.com.
