Suspect arrested after standoff in Colorado Springs

KRDO

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Colorado Springs Violent Offender Fugitive Task Force (VOFTF) arrested a suspect today after a standoff.

The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) says the VOFTF was conducting a follow-up on 38-year-old Jameson Wolford. According to officials, Wolford had multiple felony and misdemeanor warrants for his arrest including a felony charge for stalking.

A VOFTF detective was conducting surveillance on Wolford's house at the 5500 block of Prairie Schooner Drive and was able to identify Wolford inside the home on Friday.

CSPD says Wolford had made verbal threats in the past towards law enforcement officers, and may make booby traps for officers if they attempt to contact at his residence. Due to the nature of threats made by Wolford, CPSPS says it requested assistance from tactical officers as well as the El Paso County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Impact Team (FIT).

Officers contained the house and made orders for Wolford to exit the residence. He was also contacted by phone and text, according to CSPD. The Real Time Crime Center's mobile drone also responded to provide assistance.

Wolford continued to refuse to exit, and officers obtained a search warrant for the house. CSPD says tactical officers began to escalate tactics, including using launchable chemical munitions into the house. When Wolford continued to refuse to leave, tactical officers used an explosive breach on the front door and an interior drone and robot were used to search the house, according to officials.

Tactical officers launched more chemical munitions into the home, which had no effect. CSPD says officers then began to clear the house using a K-9 and narrowed down what room Wolford was in. Water and electricity were then cut off, and tactical officers put a handheld chemical munition into the bathroom Wolford was inside, CSPD says.

Wolford then finally exited and was taken into custody.

Wolford was cleared at a local hospital before being taken to the El Paso County Jail.
