Restaurants change their menu, offer groceries amid pandemic
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Even with restaurants offering takeout meals, The Margarita at Pine Creek decided it could do more to help the community.
They expanded their services to include selling groceries and delivering them around northern Colorado Springs. It's their newest venture to lend a helping hand and also sell their inventory.
They say they weren't expecting the new service to take off as well as it did and now they're having to rethink their plan.
Thursday the restaurant remained bustling, but not with customers eating inside. Instead, workers packed vegetables, eggs, and portions of meat into bags for customers to pick up within hours of ordering.
Their original plan was on Thursdays and Fridays, they would offer a small grocery list for delivery or curbside pick-up between the hours of 2 - 4 p.m.
Now the restaurant is hoping to come up with a similar plan for people to make an order between certain times in the day. Deliveries within a 5-mile radius will also be offered.
