EPSO

MONUMENT, Colo. (KRDO) - A woman was struck and killed in the McDonald's parking lot along Baptist Road in Monument just before noon on Monday.

Monument police initially responded and found a woman badly injured. Medical assistance was provided, but she died at the scene.

MPD later requested the help of the El Paso County Sheriff's Office.

An EPSO spokesperson told KRDO Monday evening that the call came in at 11:47 a.m.

Based on evidence and witness testimony, investigators believe the victim was struck by a dark-colored Chrysler minivan with a light-colored metal stripe along the side.

A photo of the vehicle believed to be at fault was also released.

The vehicle may also have red paint scuff marks on the front passenger side.

It had no front license plate, and will now have damage to the right front corner.

Authorities believe a man was driving, and a woman was in the front passenger seat.

The case is being investigated as a homicide.

Anyone with information is asked to please contact the sheriff's office by calling 719-390-5555.

No additional details on the victim were released.
