KRDO

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO)-- The Pueblo Memorial Airport just accepted an Airport Improvement Program (AIP) grant agreement from the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to provide funding for costs related to the rehabilitation of a runway.

According to City officials, the Pueblo City Council approved the grant award to be accepted on Monday, Aug. 28, in order for the runway project to begin.

The award is a continuation of a grant previously accepted by FAA funds for design and construction and with the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) for initial design plans.

The total project cost for construction is $9,806,866 and the FAA AIP grant will cover 95% of the cost at $9,316,522.

The CDOT grant will cover an additional 2.5% at $245,171, and the City of Pueblo’s required match of 2.5% will cover the remaining cost.

Construction is anticipated to begin April 2024 and be completed by July 2024.
