Pedestrian hit by car in east Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A pedestrian was hit by car early Sunday morning on the east side of town, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department.

Police said it happened around 4:30 a.m. Sunday in the 4700 block of Airport road.

The person hit was trying to cross mid-block on Airport road. The person was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Major Crash team took over the investigation and said alcohol is considered a factor in the crash. The driver of the car was arrested for vehicular assault and suspected of being under the influence of alcohol, CSPD said.
