Police officer shot, investigation underway in Alamosa

ALAMOSA, Colo. (KRDO) -- An investigation is underway in the San Luis Valley following a shooting Thursday evening.

According to the City of Alamosa's Facebook, there was a shooting between Hunt Ave. to La Due from 12th to 13th St.

City officials first reported the shooting at 4:47 p.m.

According to officials, the suspect is in custody.

The Alamosa Police Department (APD) says that officers with the Alamosa Police Department responded to a report of a fight/disturbance. Almost immediately when officers arrived, a juvenile suspect produced a handgun and shot an Alamosa Police Officer. The officer was shot twice and was taken to the San Luis Valley Health Regional Medical Center.

According to the APD, officers also found an adult male who had been shot near the location where the Alamosa officer was shot. He was rushed to San Luis Valley Health Regional Medical Center.

Numerous agencies including the 12th Judicial District Attorney Anne Kelly, Colorado Bureau of Investigation, Alamosa Sheriff’s Office, Conejos County Sheriff’s Office, Monte Vista Police Department, Colorado Division of Wildlife, and the Monte Vista Police Department are assisting the Alamosa Police.
