EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- Highway 83 is open again after a grass fire closed the road at the North Gate exit, according to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office made the announcement of the closure just before 11:30 a.m. Sunday and by 12 p.m. the fire was extinguished and the road reopened.

The Tri-Lakes Fire Department is the primary fire agency.
