Police investigting ‘suspicious’ death near Fountain Creek in Pueblo

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- Pueblo police are investigating a suspicious death in Pueblo near the Fountain Creek area.

Police said they received a call around noon Wednesday that a body was found near Fountain Creek in Pueblo.

The man who found the body, Paul Montoya, was feeding the homeless along Fountain Creek when he came upon a dead body. He said he immediately called the police.

" I called 911 and had two cops come down here and showed them where the body was. And it's just sad," said Montoya.

Investigators said the victim is a male, but they're still working to identify the suspect.

Pueblo police told KRDO that this appears to be an isolated incident and they do not believe there is an active threat to the public.

They said if anyone knows anything about what happened here on Wednesday, contact them immediately.

Pueblo police said this is still an active investigation.
