Fort Carson’s Career Summit for service members and veterans begins with networking event
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Wednesday kicked off a two-day hiring event for service members, their families, and veterans.
The event is put on by the Fort Carson Transition Assistance Program, the U.S. National Chamber of Commerce Foundation, and Hiring our Heroes.
While the career fair begins Thursday, a social-networking opportunity at Fort Carson's HUB happens Wednesday evening.
This networking event is open to community partners, employers, transitioning service members, and their spouses.
This begins at 5 p.m. and lasts until 7 p.m.
Thursday, members of the military community are invited to participate in two events. The first begins at 8 a.m. at McMahon Auditorium. This includes seminars on several topics related to the career fair. It will include a keynote speaker, industry panels, and transition-related workshops.
The career fair begins at 1 p.m. and lasts through 4 p.m. at the Wiliam "Bill" Reed Special Events Center. According to officials, roughly 85 various employees from the federal government and private businesses.
Fort Carson said the event is designed to help those who are currently serving, or have in the past, transition back into civilian work.
Participation in the summit is highly encouraged for service members who are within 18 months of leaving the army, according to Fort Carson.
