Three juveniles robbed at gunpoint near Pueblo South High School, police searching for suspects

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- Police are searching for suspects accused of robbing three juveniles at gunpoint near a Pueblo high school.

According to the Pueblo Police Department (PPD), dispatch received two calls regarding this incident between 3:39 p.m. and 3:52 p.m.

The first call was a report of menacing near Pueblo South High School. Dispatch then received a second call about an armed robbery.

At the scene, three juveniles told officers they were robbed at gunpoint by three people inside of a vehicle.

According to PPD, the driver is described as an African American female with face tattoos, one passenger was an African American male, and the second passenger was described as a white male. The suspects are in their late teens to early 20s.

Officers are now searching for the vehicle, described as a red Rav 4 reported stolen out of the Colorado Springs area, and the three suspects.

Police say the suspects are believed to be armed.

Wednesday evening, KRDO obtained a copy of an email sent out by District 60 to the D60 community:

Good Evening Families of D60,

This message is to inform you of a concerning incident that took place today, August 17, after school dismissal. The Pueblo Police Department has confirmed that three South High School students were robbed at gunpoint. This incident took place several blocks from the school as the students were walking home. The suspects are believed to be in a red Toyota Rav4 which was reported as a stolen vehicle from the Colorado Springs area. 

At this time, the police are investigating this situation and will continue to do so as the suspects remain at large. According to the Police Department, the driver is described as an African American female with face tattoos, one passenger was an African American male, and the second passenger was described as a white male. The suspects are in their late teens to early 20s.

We encourage all staff, students and families to remain vigilant at all times, and to report any suspicious activity around our schools and community.
