El Paso County man charged with dozens of thefts and vehicle crimes

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- The El Paso County Sheriff's Office (EPSO) have charged a man with additional crimes after a months-long investigation.

EPSO's original investigation started in December of 2025 when deputies were sent to the scene of a burglary at A Storage Place in the 5800 block of Omaha Boulevard in unincorporated El Paso County. Officials say three storage units had been burglarized and at least two cars were stolen.

Deputies arrived on scene and saw a male suspect fleeing on foot, and two suspects fleeing in cars. Officials later identified one of the suspects as 50-year-old Justin Hudson.

In April of 2026, detectives with EPSO arrested Hudson and charged him with criminal mischief, second-degree burglary, second-degree motor vehicle theft and theft. He was booked into the El Paso County Jail, then released the next day on a $10,000 bond, according to EPSO.

Officials state that between January and June 2026, detectives conducted numerous searches based on warrants issued from information gathered during the investigation. The searches were conducted in El Paso, Teller and Lincoln counties.

EPSO says the search warrants found stolen or defaced property from several jurisdictions, including the Colorado Springs Police Department, Colorado State Patrol, Woodland Park Police Department, Loveland Police Department and EPSO.

The following items were recovered:

• Five vehicles
• Seven motorcycles or dirt bikes
• Three trailers
• Two ATVs
• One tiny home or estate trailer

On July 14, Hudson was arrested again on another arrest warrant and he was booked into the El Paso County Jail again. He was released the next day on a $15,000 bond, according to officials.

Further investigation by EPSO led to additional criminal cases and his charges were changed to include:

• Nine counts of motor vehicle theft
• Ten counts of felony theft
• Four counts of burglary
• Three counts of criminal mischief
• Two counts of chop shop activity

EPSO says they believe there are still active investigations into the other suspects involved in case.
