SAN LUIS VALLEY, Colo. (KRDO) -- In just a few weeks, country music fans will flock to the San Luis Valley for a country music festival created by one of the genre's biggest stars.

Dierks Bentley is bringing back his music festival Seven Peaks after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic. In previous years, the festival happened in Buena Vista. This year, however, it's happening in Villa Grove.

This week, KRDO's Riley Carroll had the chance to sit down with Bentley virtually and discuss the upcoming festival.

During that interview, Bentley explained that Colorado is his favorite place to be during this time of year. He said he absolutely loves performing in the Centennial State and is eager to greet festival attendees at the gate.

This year, the venue is near a lake people can enjoy ahead of the music. Bentley strongly encourages everyone to camp at the venue. He said it's the best way to get the full experience and that some of the best memories are made in the campground.

When asked what he's looking forward to, Bentley said he's excited to perform songs like "5-1-5-0" with a live crowd again.

"Songs like that just work better with a crowd," remarked Bentley.

Watch Bentley's full interview below, he talks about the festival, why he loves Colorado, and performing here.

The festival runs over Labor Day weekend, September 2-4. Passes start at $219.

This year's lineup includes Hardy, Morgan Wallen, Tracy Lawrence, Ashley McBryde, Jordan Davis, Dierks Bentley, and many more.
