State Health Department launches monkeypox vaccine data dashboard

MGN

DENVER, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) has launched a monkeypox vaccine administration data dashboard with the goal of providing up-to-date information on the state's response to monkeypox.

The CDPHE said the dashboard provides information on the number of monkeypox vaccines administered, the number of people vaccinated, and the number of daily and cumulative doses administered over time.

The dashboard will be updated daily Tuesday - Friday at 4 p.m. and the state will also continue to provide daily updates on cases, Tuesday - Friday.

According to the CDPHE, the dashboard includes all Jynneos vaccine doses entered in the state’s Colorado Immunization Information System (CIIS) on or after May 27, 2022, when the state first began administering the monkeypox vaccine. The data also includes doses administered at CDPHE-hosted clinics and by additional vaccine administration partners.

“We continue to prioritize providing timely updates to the state’s response to the monkeypox outbreak,” said Scott Bookman, director, Division of Disease Control and Public Health Response. “Providing information on the state’s extremely limited supply of monkeypox vaccine from the federal government allows the public to see how quickly we are administering this vaccine to at-risk Coloradans.”

Vaccine appointments are currently available at CDPHE-hosted vaccine clinics in the Denver metro area to Coloradans who self-attest to their eligibility through the state's appointment request form. The department is also currently working to enroll additional vaccine providers throughout the state.

According to the CDPHE, eligible Coloradans include men aged 18 years and older who are gay, bisexual, or other men who have sex with men who have had multiple or anonymous sex partners in the last 14 days. Anyone who believes they have been in close contact with someone who has monkeypox in the last 14 days is also eligible for the vaccine. Anyone can get monkeypox through close contact with someone who has the virus.

To date, more than 3,200 doses have been administered in Colorado, according to the CDPHE. At this time, the federal government is allocating vaccines to jurisdictions based on monkeypox case counts and the estimated size of the population in the jurisdiction who might benefit from vaccination at this point in the outbreak.
