El Paso County Sheriff’s Office finds multiple weapons at homeless camp, makes several arrests

EPCSO

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- While at a homeless camp, deputies with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office (EPCSO) recovered multiple weapons and made several arrests.

Between July 26 and July 27, 2022, the sheriff's office says deputies were in an unincorporated area of the county along the Greenway Trail near East Las Vegas Street and the Circle Drive overpass.

According to the sheriff's office, deputies were in the area to interact with people experiencing difficult times, educate them on and direct them to available resources, and mitigate any criminal activity occurring.

EPCSO said deputies arrested people wanted on outstanding Felony and Misdemeanor warrants. While in the area, deputies also recovered dangerous and "unlawfully possessed" weapons. That included a crossbow, a shotgun, a hunting rifle carbine with a mounted scope, and a handgun.
