Pueblo Police arrest suspects for auto theft
PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- Undercover officers with the Pueblo Police Department (PPD) on July 26, observed a white Chevy pickup truck, stolen out of Canon City, that was being driven by the suspect identified as Juarez in the 900 block of Hwy 50 in Pueblo.
The stolen truck was followed to the 2500 block of Lake Ave.
Juarez was with his girlfriend, 29 year-old, Oleta Witte. When officers were approaching the stolen truck Juarez was able to jump into the driver’s seat and attempted to flee the scene.
Juarez rammed an undercover police vehicle, a police patrol vehicle, and another undercover vehicle from the Canon City Police Department. The undercover vehicle from Canon City was in town attempting to locate Juarez for burglaries and auto thefts committed in Canon City.
Despite the number of damaged vehicles and property at the motel, Juarez and Witte were taken into custody, says PPD.
Juarez has accumulated a total of 11 warrants for a total bond totaling over $372,000 dollars for crimes committed throughout Canon City, Fountain, Colorado Springs, and Pueblo, according to PPD.
Juarez was arrested on new charges of 1st Deg. Assault, 1st Deg. Motor Vehicle Theft, Vehicle Eluding, 1st Deg. Trespass, Reckless Endangerment. Juarez was arrested for the following warrants: Attempt 1st Deg Homicide-Robbery, 2nd Deg. Burglary, 1st Deg. Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft, FTA-1st Deg. Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft, Criminal Mischief, Burglary, and FTA-Traffic. Juarez is a Safe Streets Criminal.
Witte had a total of six warrants for a total of $66,000. Witte’s warrants included Robbery, Burglary x4, and larceny. Witte is also a Safe Streets Criminal.
