The Original Super Bud Bowl in Avondale

PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- The fifth annual Original Super Bud Bowl is happening July 9-10, 2022. The event is in Avondale, a town just outside Pueblo.
According to the events Facebook page, Southern Colorado Bud Bowlers Association (SCBBA), this isn't a party or "smoke festival". The SCBBA says they are "an organization that provides a vehicle for the cannabis community to interface with its business base. It's an organization that CONSISTENTLY provides high-quality social events for the citizens of the Front Range, whether those events are planned for 35 people or 350."
However, not everyone is happy about this event. The Pueblo Board of County Commissioners (PBOCC) reports that they have received numerous calls of concern regarding the Super Bud Bowl event.
The PBOCC says that they take citizens’ concerns very seriously and has reviewed all legal and administrative options to address this issue. The current Pueblo County Code allows for events to occur on private property, up to 500 people, without appropriate permits.
The PBOCC has said that The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO), as well as Pueblo County staff, are monitoring the event for compliance with local laws.
Additionally, the PBOCC will be reviewing the Pueblo County Code and recommending changes to the law which will allow Pueblo County to have additional legal authority over events that blatantly evade county permitting in the community. The PBOCC has every intention of updating and strengthening its code to give the County more authority to protect the health and safety of its citizens.
The SCBBA released the following on their Facebook.
After an at length discussion with our Pueblo County Sheriff, we were wished a safe successful event, under the specific circumstances that allow us to operate. This is not a blanket approval for any future occurrence.I have extended an invitation to the Department.Do not expect the Authorities to shirk their responsibility to govern our streets.Obey all traffic laws. Do not blast music or horn in the area.Do not transport any substance not legal for you to possess. I was told in no uncertain terms that there would be no tolerance for either me, or you if a disturbance is created at the event, or if illegal activity is detected, regardless of its private nature. I have not misrepresented the discussion with our Authorities. I know i can count on you.
