Human remains found in the Disappointment Valley area

SAN MIGUEL COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- Human remains were found on July 4, 2022, in the Disappointment Valley area.

Authorities were called after the remains were discovered.

The San Miguel Sheriff's Department (SMSD) says that the remains have been sent to a forensic specialist for evaluation.

The SMSD says that there is no apparent threat to public safety and they are working on identifying the individual.

The area is closed to the public until the investigation is complete.
