Colorado Springs celebrating National Park and Recreation Month with free community activities

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The City of Colorado Springs invites residents and visitors to celebrate National Park and Recreation Month this July.

This National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) initiative will be recognized locally with free community events to celebrate and promote the many park and recreation opportunities in the city.

“Our city is a more vibrant community because of our park and recreation services,” said Stephanie Adams, Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services community engagement senior analyst. “We are excited to celebrate Park and Recreation Month in Colorado Springs with a variety of activities for residents of all ages and abilities that are designed to expand engagement and encourage outdoor fun.”

According to the city, free community events will happen throughout July both online and in person. Those activities include:

  • A 2023 calendar photo contest featuring Trails, Open Space and Parks (TOPS) properties
  • Community center pop-up activations
  • An outdoor theater performance at Antlers Park downtown.
