Man arrested Saturday in Woodland Park after shooting at cars and barricading himself in garage

WOODLAND PARK, Colo. (KRDO) -- A man was arrested Saturday night in Woodland Park after he shot at cars, fled the scene, and barricaded himself inside a garage, according to Woodland Park Police.
It happened around 6:40 p.m. when police received reports of a suspicious vehicle and shots fired in the area of Highway 24 near Crystola. Witnesses said a man was shooting at unoccupied cars at Bad Rock Auto.
The supect had feld when police arrived but Woodland Park Police partnered with the Teller County Sheriff's Office and Colorado State Patrol to locate the suspect.
Around 7:30, law enforcement found a car fitting the suspect's descripting at a house on Kings Crown Road.
Police said the homeowners were not home at the time and they found the suspect barricaded in the garage there. After several hours officers found the suspect hiding in a car parked in the garage.
42-year-old Mark Smith was arrested on the following charges:
- Special Offender
- Unlawful possession Controlled Substance
- Possess Dangerous Weapon
- 1st Criminal Trespass (vehicle and residence)
- Possession of a Weapon by Previous Offender
- Prohibited use of Weapon/Discharge
- Defacing Property
- Reckless Endangerment
- Obstructing a Police Officer
Police said there is no known tie between Smith and the owners of the home he was hiding in at this time.
