Colorado Springs Police investigate hit-and-run, false shooting report

KRDO

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Colorado Springs Police Department is investigating a hit-and-run crash and a false 9-1-1 report for a shooting.

Police told KRDO, officers were performing a traffic stop for a vehicle with no plates in Downtown Colorado Springs. During that stop, the driver took off, ran a red light, and hit another car near the intersection of Weber and Pikes Peak Ave.

Police say the driver and his passenger ran from the scene but were caught a half-block later.

During that incident, CSPD told KRDO that the passenger in the suspect vehicle made a false 9-1-1 report for a shooting at Pioneers Museum in an attempt to divert police.

Police say the person in the vehicle that was hit suffered minor injuries.
