Man arrested in connection to Fountain gas station shooting
FOUNTAIN, Colo. (KRDO) -- A man has been arrested in connection to a shooting at a gas station in Fountain over the weekend.
Sunday, officers with the Fountain Police Department responded to reports of a shooting in front of the Kum and Go at 8050 Fountain Mesa Road. At the scene, officers found a man with a gunshot wound to his leg.
Detectives with the FPD Investigations Unit determined occupants of at least two separate vehicles were involved in the shooting.
Monday, detectives and the El Paso County Tactical Group executed a search warrant in the 100 block of Judson Street. Police say they found evidence at the home but did not find the shooting suspect, identified as 19-year-old Nickilaus Oakley.
From there, members of the Fountain Police Department DICE Team and CSPD Detectives began surveillance at an apartment in Colorado Springs attempting to find Oakley. During that time, police say Oakley was seen leaving the area in a vehicle and going to a residence in the 4800 block of Beechvale Dr.
Police say Oakley was then taken into custody without incident. He was booked into the El Paso County Jail on several charges including First Degree Attempted Murder, Illegal Discharge of Firearm, and First Degree Assault.
