Police docs: Circle K double-shooting suspect pulled gun on another person earlier that day
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Newly-obtained police records show Tuesday's double shooting at a Colorado Springs gas station was not the only time 23-year-old Kevarris Norris is alleged to have pulled a gun on someone that afternoon.
Both of Norris' alleged gunshot victims are expected to survive after being shot in the face, although, both have life-altering injuries, according to Norris' police report.
According to the arrest affidavit, police say that a short time before Norris allegedly fired a gun inside and outside of the Circle K at 3290 Austin Bluffs Pkwy, they received a 9-1-1 call from a man in a nearby King Soopers parking lot.
That man told police that a black male, who matched Norris' description, had pulled a gun on him and tried to pry open his car door. The alleged victim said he was able to drive off.
Not long after that, police records accuse Norris of walking into the Circle K and demanding money from the cashier. When the cashier complied and went to open the register, police say Norris shot her and didn't even attempt to recoup the money.
Police allege that after Norris shot the cashier, he walked outside toward a 67-year-old man pumping gas in his car. They say Norris confronted the man and demanded the man hand over his keys, but the man wouldn't give them up. Police claim Norris then shot him in the face and drove off with the 67-year-old's car.
According to the records, when the man who was pumping gas was later able to collect his thoughts, he told police he was getting gas because his car computer told him he only had 8 miles worth of gas left in his tank.
The next day, the car was found abandoned on the road, 8.4 miles from the Circle K location.
Norris was booked in the El Paso County Jail Thursday on a $500,000 bond. He's facing multiple counts of attempted first-degree murder
According to the arrest affidavit, this is not the first time police say they have dealt with Norris in this area either. They wrote they have frequently gotten disturbance calls involving him. Norris has a prior motor theft conviction.
