KRDO

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., (KRDO) -- Cheyenne Mountain State Park has two new sleeping cabins meant to make the park more accessible to visitors.

According to the park, each cabin is equipped with bunk beds, a small kitchen, a dining area, a bathroom, and a patio. They sit side-by-side in the park's Meadows Group Campground loop and are already available for rent.

"We are excited to offer these new cabins to the public, I think will increase accessibility for people who do not have an RV or camper trailer, gives them an opportunity to enjoy Cheyenne Mountain State Park," said Jason Hagan, with Cheyenne Mountain State Park.

In 2019 state parks saw over 14 million visits, two years later that number increased to nearly 20 million. The state estimates another 20 million people will visit Colorado parks this year.

"We continue to see increase visitation at the park, not only in our campground but in our day-to-day use," added Hagan.

Six people can spend the night in each cabin/ The cabins are $120 a night with a minimum of a two-night stay.

"We are in bear country at the park, we have quite a few bears in the area so people need to be mindful of their trash and not leave any food outdoors," said Hagan.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife campsite, the cabins can be reserved through the CPW website.
