Arrest Affidavit: Colorado Springs Police Officer accused of threatening to kill teen
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Colorado Springs Police arrested one of their own Friday night, and newly released court documents shed light on the multiple charges he's now facing.
Office Shane Reed is charged with felony kidnapping, misdemeanor child abuse, menacing, and harassment.
Court documents released Monday afternoon show that a 15-year-old boy accused Reed of assaulting and threatening to kill him in late January of 2022. It's unclear how Reed knows the child.
The 15-year-old said he was outside his house around dusk when Reed pulled up in his truck, shined his headlights on the child and his friend, and then got out. The teen reported Reed was wearing what he described as a "police belt" with pouches but didn't see a weapon.
According to the arrest affidavit, the teen said Reed then grabbed him by the wrist and told him to "walk". The teen said he was scared and tried to resist, but Reed was "stronger than him" so he stopped resisting. He reported that Reed started "dragging him" down to a fence. He said Reed then "pushed him by his upper collar bone against the fence".
The teen reported that Reed "pushed him again, this time with both of his hands across his shoulders and arms." He then said that Reed yelled that "he loves the f***k out of [redacted]" and told the teen to stay away. It's unclear who Reed may have been referring to as the document is redacted.
Then, the teen told authorities that Reed "pushed his head toward the fence and said something like 'he would kill him, and nobody would find his body.'"
A friend was with the 15-year-old at the time and reported to police that he watched Reed drag the boy and push him up against the fence a couple of times, but couldn't hear what Reed was saying. He also reported that the teen yelled "help" at him, but Reed told him to "stay put". He said that obeyed Reed because he's a police officer.
The Colorado Springs Police Department applied for an arrest warrant Friday and took Reed into custody. Reed faces several charges including Second Degree Kidnapping, Child Abuse-Knowingly/Recklessly Any Injury Other Than SBI, and Threat/Physical Action/Fear of SBI.
His bond was set at $10,000. He posted it the same day he was arrested.
Reed is expected to appear in court on Thursday when a judge is scheduled to advise him of his charges.
