CDOT makes closures throughout I-25 Thursday due to severe weather

MONUMENT, Colo. (KRDO) -- Wet and consistent snow has been falling in Monument since early Thursday morning, heavily impacting roadways and the I-25 corridor.

The Colorado Department of Transportation said that the weather is "nasty" and they have already had to make several safety closures on the highway between the New Mexico border and Denver by 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

Not only was there significant snowfall, but the strong winds are also making visibility on the roads that much worse. CDOT said their plows are out in full force and even have special technology in the vehicles that tell the drivers the road and air temperatures and the best treatment for the type of snow or ice on the roads.
