The Colorado Springs Fire Department and a dive team are searching for a missing person.
According to CSFD, the victim went missing in the water at Red Rock Canyon Open Space. Witnesses told crews someone fell into the water and did not resurface.
CSFD Divers from Rescue 17 searched from 1 a.m. Wednesday morning until they suspended the search for safety reasons. Divers ran into issues with cold water, low visibility, and obstacles in the water.
Crews began their search again around 9:30 a.m. They're utilizing a boat, sonars, and drones.
"In this case, it will end up being a grid search. We basically just make lines for the most part in the water and then make girds off of that, so we'll start from the last point we knew the individual went into the water and then work our way out from there," said Captain Mike Smaldino, a spokesperson for the Colorado Springs Fire Department.
