Lone Tree latest city to lift pit bull ban
LONE TREE, Colo. (KRDO) -- The City of Lone Tree is lifting its pit bull ban starting July 10.
The City Council voted unanimously to repeal the ban on Tuesday. The ban has been in effect since 2006, but the Lone Tree Police Department indicates there have not been more dog bites from pit bulls compared to other breeds.
The police department says the behavior of a dog's owner is more of an indicator of whether or not an animal will be violent than its breed.
Lifting the bam makes Lone Tree the latest of several Colorado cities to overturn a pit bull ban.
Beginning in January of 2021, residents in the city and county of Denver were able to apply for special permits from Denver Animal Protection to own a pit bull.
