CHAFFEE COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- The teenager whose body was recovered from Clear Creek Reservoir on Monday has been identified by his family.

Blaze Bowen says his 13-year-old son Makalu "Maki" Bowen was "an amazing kid." Blaze sent KRDO the picture below of his son.

Deputies in Chaffee County say Maki was duck hunting with a friend Saturday when their boat capsized in the Clear Creek Reservoir. Wildlife officers were able to rescue the other teenage friend but spent the following two days searching for Maki. Officers retrieved his body on Monday.

Blaze says his son was an avid outdoorsman, even planning to mountain bike Kilimanjaro in January with his father. The family moved to Buena Vista after previously living in Monument.

A GoFundMe page was setup to help the Bowen family with funeral expenses.

"Maki was an amazing friend, brother, and son. He will be greatly missed in Buena Vista and in the world," the GoFundMe page states.
