DURANGO, Colo. -- Authorities in Colorado have found the body of a Denver man who went missing while hiking by himself in the San Juan Mountains.

The Durango Herald reported that 26-year-old hiker Ben Brownlee was last seen Saturday around 11:30 a.m. hiking about 18 miles southwest of Lake City.

Emergency personnel from Hinsdale County said Brownlee told two hikers he was going to climb to the top of Redcloud Peak. Authorities say a search and rescue mission was launched Monday after he never returned, including a dozen ground crews and several helicopters.

A body believed to be that of Brownlee was found Tuesday. Emergency personnel did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
