COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- Police have identified a man who was shot to death on the southeast side of Colorado Springs on September 4.

The El Paso County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 34-year-old Martin Rodriguez Ramirez of Colorado Springs. The coroner has not revealed the official cause of death, but police are investigating this case as a homicide.

Colorado Springs police officers responded to a call on the 4500 block of London Lane around 10 p.m. on September 4. Upon arrival, they found a deceased adult male with an apparent gunshot wound.

Detectives with the CSPD's Homicide/Assault Unit were called to the scene and took over the investigation. Based on preliminary findings, detectives believe a physical altercation led up to the shooting.

While the investigation is still ongoing, police have interviewed witnesses and believe they have identified all the parties involved in the shooting.

Ramirez's death is the 25th homicide investigation in the city this year. Police investigated 16 homicides at this time last year.
