Pine Gulch Fire becomes largest wildfire in Colorado history, 77% contained
MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Pine Gulch Fire near Grand Junction has become the largest wildfire in Colorado's history as of Thursday evening.
Fire officials say more accurate mapping has estimated the blaze to be about 139,006 acres and 77% contained. This wildfire has surpassed the 2002 Hayman Fire, which burned 137,760 acres.
More than 900 personnel are actively extinguishing the wildfire, which has burned five structures.
