DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Tri-County Health Department says a person at Sand Creek Elementary School has tested positive for the coronavirus.

The school in Douglas County sent out a statement to all parents and staff saying the person diagnosed is in isolation until no longer infectious.

Officials say the person was in the sixth-grade pod of the school. Consequently, all students and staff in close proximity will be in quarantine for the next 14 days.

Students in quarantine will be learning remotely until at least September 8, the school said. Siblings of sixth-graders can still go to school unless their sibling gets sick or tests positive for coronavirus.

A spokesperson said the entire Sand Creek Elementary School is being disinfected before classes resume Monday.
